Schedule Social Media Posts with Codex
Use the code and changelog already in your Codex session to prepare a social announcement. Connect LotsSocial through MCP to save and schedule the versions you approve.
Eligible new users get free credits, valid for 90 days. No card required.
Example workflow
“Summarise the user-facing changes in this PR as LinkedIn and X drafts. Avoid claims that the diff does not support. Save both in LotsSocial.”
Two factual release drafts waiting for your approval.
A completed change gets a public announcement
01
Ask for the customer-facing change
Codex has the repository context. Ask it to describe what the update lets a user do, rather than listing the files changed.
02
Connect with Codex’s MCP client
Add the hosted server and finish OAuth sign-in. The setup below uses the Codex CLI, without installing a LotsSocial CLI.
03
Schedule after the release is ready
Approve the copy and choose a time once the release is available. LotsSocial holds the posts in your calendar until publication.
What can Codex do with LotsSocial?
With a compatible connection, your agent can save drafts, schedule posts with images or video, manage connected accounts and retrieve available analytics. LotsSocial handles the publishing schedule; your agent supplies the content and instructions.
Supported networks: LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Google Business, Facebook, YouTube, Reddit, Threads, TikTok, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon. Platform-specific formats and media requirements still apply.
You need
- Codex CLI
- A LotsSocial account, which is created when you first sign in. No card required.
Connect Codex to LotsSocial
- 1
Add the server
Run this in your terminal.
codex mcp add lotssocial --url https://api.lots.social/mcp - 2
Sign in
Run this and finish the sign-in in the browser that opens.
codex mcp login lotssocial
What to ask next
- “Summarise this week’s merged PRs as a changelog post and schedule it for Friday”
Once connected, when you ask to connect an account, your agent gives you a link to open in your browser. Approve access on the network’s own page; the link works for an hour.
If something goes wrong
- Tools fail with an auth error
- Run codex mcp login lotssocial again; sessions expire after a period of inactivity.
Official setup documentation: Codex: MCP.
MCP or REST API: use the connection your agent supports.
The remote MCP endpoint is shared. For scripts or an agent with HTTP tools, use the REST API and an API key.
